By working closely with Scarborough Borough Council, Glaisdale Parish Council and the NYMNPA, using government grants, charitable loans and community funding, We aim to start to build quality and economically affordable homes in Lealholm in 2019!
A community-led housing scheme consists of quality, affordable homes to buy or rent. The homes are owned by your community - and you have a say in who lives in them.
Community Land Trusts (CLTs) are a form of community-led housing, where local organisations are set up and run by ordinary people. They develop and manage homes as well as other assets important to that community, like community enterprises, food growing or workspaces.
Lealholm CLT’s was formed in 2018 to Design, Build and Manage a small number of affordable homes in Lealholm Village.
Lealholm CLT will act as long term stewards of the houses we develop in Lealholm, ensuring that they will remain genuinely affordable, based on what people actually earn in the area, not just for now but for every future occupier.
The above photograph shows recently built affordable housing in Danby, but what will the housing in Lealholm look like?
Come along to one of the upcoming community consultations in the Ley Hall. Look out for consultation dates published on notice boards in Lealholm shop, Glaisdale shop, Ley Hall, Robinson Institute or The Board Inn Lealholm.
